✨HI EVERYONE! PLEASE READ✨
I am a PK stan and if you're confused or irritated at PK stans for this poll issue, here's an explanation of why we come off like this. I hope I can explain some misunderstandings! 🙏 (Sorry if it's long: there's a tldr/conclusion at the bottom so you can have context before reading.)
To start off, most of the rants we PK stans say here are mostly for those people who didn't know what this poll is for so they voted for twice blindly, and we fear that they won't watch the cover. Here's an explanation why we think that:
We are currently frustrated because this is not the first 1thek poll issue like this, there were previous "pick which one they should cover" polls for PK before. Like this poll, there was this one choice that most of PK stans wanted to win. And all of our main picks lost because another choice won, and the winning ones had a lot of voters who seems to have just voted blindly because of it's their fave and thought it was a competition because they didn't read the caption well. The proofs? 1) the comments of those other fandoms sounded like "[insert their faves name/sonv] is the best group/song", and 2) when the covers of the first two polls came out (which was in their pre-debut months), the views of those covers in the first weeks didn't match the number of votes, and the views only increased after months, mostly from passerbys or pk stans streaming. Rarely we see comments about "hey, I voted them in the poll so I checked if they covered it"
Specific examples/proof: the previous 1thek poll about which should our main vocalist Swan should cover. Most of us PK stans voted/commented that we wanted G-IDLE's OMG or Red Velvet's RBB to win (because OMG's vocal lines suit Swan's voice, and RBB because it has good vocal lines which would be a good way to showcase her vocal range). However, a lot of people voted for NCT's MAW which is focused on rapping—and she was a main vocalist and rap isn't her specialty, so we're assuming it's mostly non-PK stans who voted in that poll. [Of course, there were NCTizen-PK stans too who voted for MAW, but there's only a handful of them.]
Another example is the 1st 1thek poll where a lot of armys voted for Dynamite when most PK stans voted/commented that they wanted God's Menu to win because it's a hard choreography. And we knew that the armys voted out of competition because most of the comments were like "dynamite/bts is the best" "dynamite soty" as if it was a poll about "who is the best group". And as I mentioned, most of them didn't even watch when it came out. This happened too in the other poll where HYLT won—most of these polls were won by the biggest fandoms of the choices. That's why you'll see some of us comment "this is not a competition" because it happened to the previous polls where a lot of non-PK stans voted it blindly like it was a competition and most importantly they didn't watch the covers when it came out, that's why we're so frustrated.
I'm sorry for the unnecessary hate onces have received, but I've read a lot of hate stuff from onces as well, like saying Yuki isn't that good or that they voted using their many accounts to make our choice really LOSE or saying "why do you care so much about it??" to invalidate us as if they've experienced what we've experienced, as if this poll isn't mainly for us and for Purple Kiss.
TL;DR, In conclusion: if you're a non-PK fan who still wants to vote ICSM even if most of us fans wanted $$$, then vote it because you really do want her to cover it and that you will watch it. If we're not going to get the cover we want then at least make sure you'll watch it because you guys really want that cover to happen 🙏
